Subscription and usage
Free and pay-as-you-go services in detail
Every BoothX feature classified as free or pay-as-you-go, with its unit of measure, its default monthly quota and what happens when it runs out.
New model being rolled out. Until pay-as-you-go is enabled on your account, no usage is counted or blocked. Prices are published at shop.boothx.org/plans.
This article is the detailed reference for the “free forever or pay-as-you-go” model. For the principle, first read Free forever or pay-as-you-go.
The rule
- What costs us nothing is free for everyone, with no limit and offline: everything that runs on your booth.
- What costs us money is pay-as-you-go: online storage and bandwidth, message sending, computing on our servers. Each service has a free monthly quota; beyond it, usage is deducted from your prepaid credits (or billed with the subscription if it includes this).
A free feature never depends on the network, the account or a payment.

Pay-as-you-go services
| Service | Unit | Default free monthly quota | Used by |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cloud gallery | photo | 200 photos | Photos sent to the event's online gallery. |
| Cloud storage | GB | 1 GB | Volume of files kept online. |
| Sharing bandwidth | GB | 5 GB | Views and downloads from the gallery and the links sent. |
| SMS | SMS | 0 | Each SMS sent to a guest. |
| 100 | Each email sent to a guest. | ||
| AI image | image | 10 | Each AI processing job run on our servers. |

The quotas shown are the default values; your account's quotas are shown in the usage panel and may change. Volumes in GB are counted precisely (to the megabyte).
When a service runs out
Only that service is affected; the booth keeps working.
| Service used up | What happens | What keeps working |
|---|---|---|
| Gallery / storage | New photos stay on the booth and will be sent after a top-up. | The QR code is still displayed; shooting and printing. |
| Bandwidth | Gallery views may be limited. | Everything local. |
| SMS / email | The option is no longer offered to guests; rejected sends are marked as failed. | The QR code. |
| AI | The processing doesn't start. | Local filters. |
| Sync | Media is no longer synced. | The web panel keeps the booth's status. |
The app tells you clearly and offers to top up on our website, directly for the service concerned. No payment is ever made in the app.
Offline
When offline, BoothX lets you use paid services within the last known quota (or the credits known at the last connection) and queues the usage on the booth. When the network comes back, the queue is sent; each usage carries a unique ID and is never counted twice. Only an explicit refusal from our servers blocks a usage. See How it works offline.
Where to track it
| Where | What |
|---|---|
| Launcher (bottom of the page) | Summary: credit balance, services close to their quota. |
| Subscription and usage page | Per service: used, included, unit cost, end of period, history. |
| billing.boothx.org | Invoices, top-ups, payment method. |
The app refreshes this information at startup, regularly, when you sign in and when the network comes back.
Frequently asked questions
Does the photo wall use bandwidth? No: the screen is connected to the booth, nothing goes through the internet.
Is the PDF guestbook free? Yes, the export is done by the booth. Sending the PDF by email from the booth, if offered, counts as an email.
Why doesn't SMS have a free quota? Carriers bill us for every SMS from the very first one. Email and the QR code are cheaper alternatives.
Are quotas per booth? No, per account: all booths linked to the account share them.
