Troubleshooting cameras
Camera not detected, session refused, frozen or black preview, or a camera that goes to sleep.
The camera isn't detected
- Check that the camera is turned on and that the battery isn't empty.
- Try another cable or USB port, without going through a hub.
- Close EOS Utility, Digital Photo Professional and any photo import software.
“Unable to open the camera session”
Another program is using the camera. Close it, turn the camera off and on again, then open the session again.
The preview is frozen or black
- Stop and restart the preview from the Cameras page.
- Check that the camera isn't in movie mode and that the lens cap is off.
- Close the session, then reopen it.
The camera goes to sleep
Disable auto power off in the camera's menus and power it from AC power.
Blurry photos
Switch to One-Shot AF with face detection, add more light or stop down the aperture a little (f/5.6 to f/8).
