Subscription and usage
Free quotas and credits
How included quotas, prepaid credits, usage tracking and top-ups work.
New model being rolled out. Until pay-as-you-go is enabled on your account, nothing is counted or blocked: online services remain available as they are today.
Free quotas
Each pay-as-you-go service (cloud galleries, sharing, SMS, emails, AI, sync) includes an included quota for each billing period. As long as you stay within the quota, the service is free.
The usage panel shows, for each service:
- what you've used during the period;
- what's included;
- the unit cost beyond the quota, in credits.
The quota renews with each new period; the end date of the period is shown in the panel.
The default monthly quotas are: 200 photos in the cloud gallery, 1 GB of cloud storage, 5 GB of sharing bandwidth, 100 emails, 10 AI images, 1 GB of sync, and no free SMS. Your account's quotas, which may change, are shown in the panel. Service-by-service details: Free and pay-as-you-go services in detail.
Credits
Beyond the quota, each use consumes credits: an SMS, an email, an AI job, an amount of storage or bandwidth.
- Credits are prepaid: you top up your balance, then you use it. No surprises at the end of the month.
- The balance is shown in the app and on billing.boothx.org.
- Prices (credit price, cost of each service) are published at shop.boothx.org/plans.
Topping up
When a pay-as-you-go feature has no quota or credits left, BoothX tells you clearly and offers to top up: a button opens the top-up page on our website, directly on the service concerned. Payment is made on the website, never in the app.
Billing (invoices, payment method, history) is managed in the billing.boothx.org portal.
What happens when you run out of credits
Only the feature concerned is suspended, and only that feature:
- Cloud gallery: new photos stay on the booth and are no longer uploaded; they can be uploaded after topping up. The QR code is still displayed.
- SMS / emails: sending isn't offered to the guest; they still have the QR code. Messages already in the queue that are refused are marked as failed and can be retried after topping up (see The offline sending queue).
- AI: generation isn't started.
Shooting, printing, the editor and local modes are never blocked: they're free.
Tracking your usage
| Where | What you see |
|---|---|
| Launcher (bottom of the page) | A summary: credit balance, services close to their quota. |
| Subscription page in the app | Details by service: used, included, unit cost, end of period. |
| billing.boothx.org | Invoices, top-ups, payment method. |
The app refreshes this information regularly and each time you sign in.
Estimating the cost of a job
Before a job, ask yourself three questions:
- Online gallery? How many photos, how many guests will view it?
- Sending by SMS or email? How many guests will use it?
- AI? How many jobs?
A 100% print job with a QR code to the gallery generally stays within the free quotas; mass SMS sending is the most expensive item. You can pass these services on to your client in your quote. The complete method, with a worked example: Estimating the cost of an event.
Frequently asked questions

Can I share my credits between my booths? Yes: credits and quotas are attached to your account, and all booths linked to the account use them.
Do free quotas roll over from one period to the next? No, they renew each period.
