Cameras
The Cameras page
Detected devices, session, live preview, test photo, mirror, grid, battery and capture settings.
The Cameras page is the control center for the booth's camera. Use it to check the hardware before the event and to configure capture.
Devices
The Devices card lists the detected cameras:
- Canon EOS bodies connected over USB, recognized by their model (for example “Canon EOS R50 · APS-C”);
- USB webcams and built-in cameras, labeled USB webcam.
With no device: “Plug in a Canon camera or a webcam”. The list updates when you plug in or unplug a device.
For a recognized body, the page shows its battery level as a percentage. A battery won't last an evening: power the body from the mains (see Install and connect your Canon camera).
The session
To control a camera body, BoothX opens a session:
- click Open session;
- the card changes from Session closed to Preview stopped;
- click Start preview to see the live image;
- Stop closes the preview, then the session.
Only one program at a time can control a Canon body: quit EOS Utility and any import software before opening the session.
During an event, the camera is used by the event: the page shows In use by the event and doesn't let you take it over (“The camera is in use by the current event.”).
The live preview
The preview shows what the lens sees. Two display options:
- Mirror: the image is flipped like a mirror, which helps guests position themselves. On by default;
- Grid: a composition grid to align the booth and frame the shot.
Test photo
Test photo takes a real photo, just like during an event. BoothX confirms “Test photo taken.”. Use it to check exposure, sharpness and colors before guests arrive.
Capture
The Capture section sets how sessions run:
| Setting | Values |
|---|---|
| Countdown | 3 s, 5 s or 10 s |
| Photos per session | 1 to 4 |
| Delay between photos | 1, 2, 3 or 5 s |
| Automatic preview | Starts the preview as soon as the session opens |

The bar's buttons
- System devices: opens your system's device settings (Device Manager, System Settings…).
- Help: Setup, Camera settings, Troubleshooting and Compatible cameras open the corresponding article in this help center or the compatibility list.
