Subscription and usage
Free forever or pay-as-you-go
What is free with no time limit, what you pay for as you use it, and why.
New model being rolled out. Pay-as-you-go is arriving gradually. Until it is enabled on your account, no usage is counted or blocked.
BoothX is built on a simple principle: what costs us nothing is free for everyone, forever; what costs us money is pay-as-you-go, priced as fairly as possible.
Free forever
Everything that runs on your booth, without our servers, is free, with no account and no internet connection:
- shooting: Canon cameras, webcams, and the GIF, boomerang, burst and filter formats;
- the template and screen editor;
- local printing;
- local modes: photobooth, videobooth (video guestbook), game booth (quiz, wheel of fortune, contest), mosaic (including tile printing), digital guestbook (including PDF export), photo wall on a second screen;
- the local gallery (Storage page), reprinting and exporting your files;
- the booth's music;
- the sharing QR code displayed on the booth;
- the lock, kiosk mode and all settings.
There is no trial period: these features stay free with no time limit.
Pay-as-you-go
What uses our resources (storage, bandwidth, sending, computing) is billed based on usage:

| Sync | Sync beyond the free quota. |
Each pay-as-you-go service includes a free quota per period: moderate use costs nothing. Beyond that, usage is deducted from your credits. See Free quotas and credits.
Why this model?
- No mandatory subscription to run a booth: an occasional photographer pays nothing.
- You pay for what you use: a job with an online gallery and SMS costs a little; a 100% paper job costs nothing.
- Offline first: essential features never depend on a server or a payment.
What about the Pro and Ultra plans?
There are three account plans: Free, Pro and Ultra. They add convenience and customization benefits:

With Pro (and therefore Ultra, which includes everything in Pro):
- all Pro templates for screens and photos, and new collections as soon as they are released;
- video as the lock screen background;
- hiding the logo and the theme picker on the lock screen.
Ultra is built for high volumes: everything in Pro, with five times more events and AI designs, and 250 GB of storage. Pro and Ultra are sold monthly or yearly in the shop, and a Pro subscriber upgrades to Ultra from the shop without losing any events.

No payments in the app
The app never asks for your bank card for your own purchases. Purchases (credits, plan, template packs) are made on our websites, and billing is managed at billing.boothx.org. If the app asks you for your bank details, don't enter them and contact us.
