Settings
General settings, quick setups and themes
How settings are organized, the Kiosk, Performance and Eco setups, themes, language and time zone.
Settings open from the sidebar, the account menu, or with Ctrl+, (⌘, on Mac). They're organized into sections:
| Section | Contents |
|---|---|
| General | Theme, language, time zone |
| Display | Zoom, display mode, sidebar |
| Screens | Assignment, orientation, event screen |
| Input | Keyboard, mouse, touchscreen, taps |
| Kiosk | Lock, security, isolation |
| Power | Startup, sleep, battery |
| Performance | GPU acceleration, preview smoothness |
Settings apply immediately. Those that affect the graphics engine apply at the next startup: a Restart required banner then offers Relaunch BoothX.
Quick setups
At the top of the settings, three setups prepare the booth in one step. BoothX lists the settings that will change before applying them:
| Setup | What it sets |
|---|---|
| Kiosk | Auto-recovery (watchdog) armed, PIN lock and full screen when locked, computer and screen always on, system shortcuts blocked. |
| Performance | System shortcuts unblocked, GPU acceleration and high-performance graphics card, unlimited frames per second. |
| Eco | Limit of 30 frames per second, reduced animations and background activity, low battery alerts, power-saving graphics card. |
The Kiosk setup then asks you to choose the booth's PIN if none is set.
If you later change one of these settings by hand, the booth switches to the Custom setup and BoothX tells you so (“Switching to Custom mode”).
Tip: Kiosk for a self-service booth, Performance for a desktop computer plugged into the mains, Eco for a laptop on battery.
Theme
BoothX offers two themes:
- Dark: a black background, ideal in a dimly lit room (default theme);
- Light: an ivory background, bright and warm.
The automatic theme (below) switches from one to the other depending on the time.
You can also change the theme from the account menu and right from the sign-in screen.
Automatic theme
Automatic theme switches between a day theme and a night theme:
- Sunrise and sunset: the theme changes at sunrise and sunset, recalculated every day for the booth's location. BoothX even handles extreme cases (Midnight sun, Polar night);
- Fixed times: you choose when to switch to the day theme and to the night theme.
For accurate times, choose the booth's location (Change): otherwise, BoothX uses the computer's time zone.
Language
The interface is available in French and English. Change the language in General › Language, in the account menu or right from the sign-in screen. The change is immediate, with no restart.
The text in your designs (screens, templates) isn't translated automatically: it stays as you entered it.
Time zone
The time zone is used for event dates and the automatic theme.
- Automatic time zone: the computer's time (“Automatic · Europe/Paris”).
- Choose: opens the Booth location window. Search for a country or city, or tap the globe to place the booth: BoothX uses the location's time zone and shows the local time.
Useful for preparing an event abroad from France, or for a booth shipped to another country.
