Live photo wall
Moderating the photo wall
Approve photos before they're displayed, remove a photo live, and choose the right level of moderation for the event.
Mode being rolled out. Depending on your version of BoothX, the moderation options and the location of the queue may differ from this description.
A photo shown on a big screen is seen by the whole room. Moderation keeps you in control: each photo can wait for your approval before it appears, and a photo already displayed can be removed at any time.
Moderation happens on the booth, without internet.
Moderation levels
| Mode | How it works | For which event |
|---|---|---|
| No moderation | Every photo confirmed by the guest appears on the wall. | Wedding, private party among friends and family. |
| Pre-moderation | Each photo waits for your approval in a queue before being displayed. | Corporate event, trade show, unknown audience, children present. |
| Post-removal | Photos are displayed right away, and you can remove one at any time. | A compromise for a lively party with an attentive host. |
In every case, you can remove a photo from the wall at any time.
The moderation queue
With pre-moderation, new photos arrive in a queue on the admin screen (your screen, never the guests' screen or the wall):
- each photo is shown as a thumbnail, oldest first;
- Approve: the photo joins the wall, with its entrance animation;
- Reject: the photo doesn't appear on the wall;
- a counter shows the number of photos waiting.
A rejected photo isn't deleted: it stays in the event folder, printed if it was, and visible on the Storage page. Rejection only affects public display on the wall.
Auto-approval
Depending on your version, auto-approval after a delay may be offered: if nobody moderates for a certain time, pending photos are approved. It's handy if you need to step away, but it amounts to no longer moderating: use it with caution.
Remove a displayed photo
From the admin screen, open the list of wall photos and choose Remove from wall. The photo disappears from the screen and from the rotation. It stays in the event files.
Keep this action within easy reach: a guest who asks for their photo to be removed should be served right away.
Who moderates?
- A host on site, on the booth's admin screen. This is the simplest.
- You, remotely: depending on your version, moderation may be available remotely. Otherwise, keep a host near the booth.
If nobody can moderate during the event, choose no moderation for a private event, or skip the wall for a public event.
Best practices
- Agree with the client on the moderation level before the event, in writing in your quote or order form.
- Inform guests: “Your photos may appear on the screen in the room.” on the welcome screen.
- Children: for an event where children are photographed, pre-moderation is strongly recommended, as is parental consent for display.
- Props and signs: a message written on a chalkboard can be inappropriate; pre-moderation catches it.
- Don't let the queue grow: a photo that appears half an hour after the session loses its charm.
Moderation and personal data
The wall doesn't send anything online: photos stay on the booth. Public display is still a publication of guests' images. A guest can object; remove their photo at their request. See Guests' rights.
Frequently asked questions
Can a rejected photo be approved later? Depending on your version, rejected photos can be found and approved from the wall list.
Does moderation slow down the photobooth? No. The photobooth works normally; only the arrival on the wall waits for your approval.
Do guests see the moderation queue? No, it only appears on the admin screen.
