Live photo wall
Photo wall display and animations
Layout, scrolling, the arrival animation for new photos, styling in the event's colors and performance settings.
Mode being rolled out. Depending on your version of BoothX, the available layouts, animations and styling options may differ from this description.
The photo wall should catch the eye without being tiring. This article covers the display settings and tips for a lively, readable wall.
Layouts
Depending on your version, you'll find several layouts:
| Layout | Result | Ideal for |
|---|---|---|
| One photo at a time | Each photo full screen, as a slideshow. | Small screens, intimate rooms, portraits. |
| Grid | Several photos side by side, refreshed over time. | Large screens, lots of photos. |
| Free mosaic | Photos of varying sizes, laid out like on a board. | Festive atmosphere, landscape screen. |
The bigger and farther away the screen, the fewer photos you should show at once: a photo must stay readable from the back of the room.
When a new photo arrives
When a photo joins the wall (directly, or after approval), it is highlighted: it appears large with an animation, stays on screen for a few seconds, then joins the rotation.
This moment matters: it's when the guest, back from the booth, sees their photo big on screen. Avoid making it too short.
Scrolling
Between new arrivals, the wall cycles through the photos already shown:
- speed: how long each photo, or each grid refresh, stays on screen;
- order: most recent first, or random;
- loop: at the end of the list, the rotation starts over.
A calm pace (several seconds per photo) is more pleasant than frantic scrolling.
Animations
- Transitions: fade, slide or gentle zoom between two photos.
- Arrival effect: the new photo “drops” onto the wall or grows.
- Slow motion on still photos (very gentle zoom) for a lively wall.
On a modest computer or a 4K screen, reduce the animations: they use resources while the booth is taking photos. BoothX's performance settings also apply to the wall. See Performance: GPU, rendering and preview smoothness.
Styling
Style the wall in the event's colors:
- background: a color or an image (texture, theme decoration);
- logo or event name, in a corner;
- call-to-action banner: “Take your photo at the booth!”, to draw guests in;
- event gallery QR code, if you've turned it on (the online gallery is a pay-as-you-go service).
Keep the styling subtle: the photos should be the star. Avoid text near the edges, which some TVs crop.
What the wall doesn't show
- Photos rejected in moderation.
- Photos removed from the wall.
- Photos from other events: the wall only follows the current event.
Music
The wall has no sound. The booth's background music continues as usual. See Music: local playlists and fades.
After the event
- The wall stops with the event.
- For a retrospective showing (end-of-evening slideshow, or the next day at the newlyweds' home), relaunch the wall on the event: it shows all approved photos.
- The photos stay in the Storage page, like all the event's photos.

Frequently asked questions
Does the wall show the layouts or the individual photos? Depending on your settings: the layouts (as printed) or the individual photos. Individual photos look better on a screen.
Does the wall slow down the booth? With moderate animations, no. On an older computer, choose the “one photo at a time” layout and simple transitions.
Can you pause the wall? Depending on your version, pausing from the admin screen leaves only the styling on screen. Otherwise, stop the wall and relaunch it.
