Events
Use multiple screens
Guest screen, admin screen, video feed, separate or duplicated screens, portrait orientation.
With two screens (or more), BoothX can reserve one screen for guests and leave you the other to run the booth during the event: monitor printing, touch up a design, reply to a client.
All these settings are in Settings › Screens.
Identify your screens
In Screen management, click Identify: each screen shows a large number for a few seconds. The screen map shows each screen's number, resolution and role.
Assign roles
Each screen can be given a role:
| Role | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Administration (main screen) | The BoothX app, for you. |
| Guests (client interface) | The event screens. |
| Video feed | The camera preview, for example on a screen facing the guests who are posing. |
To assign a role, drag a label onto a screen, or tap the label and then tap the target screen. The assignment applies immediately.
The video feed must be on a different screen from the client interface. To turn it off, drag it into the Roles area.
Where the event is shown
Screens and event › Event screen determines where the event opens when you launch it:
- Guest screen (recommended): the event opens on the second screen and the main screen stays free. This choice is used as soon as a second screen is connected;
- Main screen: locked full screen on the app's screen.
With a single screen, BoothX tells you: “Only one screen detected. Plug in a second screen to keep one for your guests and the other for you.”
Locking during the event
With two screens, choose what stays accessible during the event:
- Default: only the guest screen is locked; you keep control of the other;
- All screens: the main screen is also locked with the booth code. Choose this if the booth is unattended.
Separate or duplicated screens
Screen layout:
- Separate screens: one window per screen, guests on one side, administration on the other;
- Duplicated screens: the same image on all screens (like the Windows Duplicate option). Ideal if you're alone with the client, for example with a screen turned toward them.
Portrait orientation
Each screen can be in landscape or portrait, without touching the system settings: handy for a column booth with a vertical screen.
After an orientation change, BoothX asks Keep this orientation?. Without an answer, the previous orientation is restored after a few seconds: you're never stuck with an unreadable screen. Click Keep or Revert.
Remember to adapt the format of your screens in the editor: a vertical screen is designed with the Vertical 9:16 format.
Unplugging a screen during the event
If the guest screen is unplugged, the event switches to Paused and the status badge on your screen offers Resume on screen 2 (once plugged back in) or Resume on this screen.
Cabling tips
- Use good-quality HDMI or DisplayPort cables, and avoid chaining adapters.
- On a touchscreen, also connect its USB touch cable: without it the image appears but touch doesn't work.
- On Windows, if touch acts on the wrong screen, use Windows Settings › Display › Calibrate the screen for pen or touch input.
