Storage and statistics
The Storage page
Find photos, prints and videos by event and by type, open folders and clean up the disk.
The Storage page is the booth's local gallery: all media from all events, organized and filterable. It works without an internet connection: the files are on the computer.
What you'll find there
Each event has its own folder, organized by media type:
| Type | Content |
|---|---|
| Photos | The raw photos taken by the camera at each session. |
| Prints | The final layouts (the filled-in template), as printed and published. |
| Videos | Videos and video messages. |
| GIF and Boomerangs | Animated captures, as they become available in the photo booth. |
Filtering
At the top of the page:
- the event picker: All events or a specific event;
- the type filters: All, Photos, Prints, Videos, GIF, Boomerangs.
The page shows the number of items and the space they take up (in MB or GB). Media are displayed in a grid, from newest to oldest.
Opening a media file
Tap a thumbnail to open the file in your system's viewer (Photos on Windows, Preview on macOS…). From there, you can enlarge, copy, share or print it.
Opening the folder
Open folder opens, in the file explorer:
- the folder of the selected event;
- or the folder of all events if All events is selected.
It's the quickest way to copy an event's photos to a USB drive or an external disk.
The folders are in the BoothX data folder, under events: %APPDATA%\boothx\events on Windows, ~/Library/Application Support/boothx/events on macOS, ~/.local/share/boothx/events on Linux.
Cloud storage
If the booth is linked to an account, the page shows the cloud space used, for example “Cloud 1.2 / 5 GB”. The same figure appears on the Dashboard, in the This booth card. Photos uploaded to the cloud feed the event's online gallery.
Cloud storage is a pay-as-you-go service, with a free quota (see Free quotas and credits). Deleting a local media file doesn't delete it from the cloud, and vice versa.
Cleaning up
Over time, orphan folders may remain: folders that no longer match any event (event deleted on another device, manual copy…).
Clean up deletes them after confirmation: “Folders that do not match any existing event will be permanently deleted.” BoothX confirms “Orphan folders removed.”. Folders of existing events are never touched.
Managing disk space
- A photo from a Canon camera weighs several MB, a video message several tens of MB.
- After each job, copy the event folder to a backup disk.
- Then delete old events (event page, Delete) to free up space.
- In the web panel, the Low disk space alert warns you remotely.
Backing up
BoothX saves everything locally first. If the computer's disk fails, photos not uploaded to the cloud are lost. For an important job:
- keep the memory card in the Canon camera: it keeps a copy of every photo;
- turn on the online gallery when the network allows;
- copy the event folder as soon as the evening is over.
