Cameras
Install and connect your Canon camera
Connect a Canon camera over USB, run it on mains power and, optionally, activate CCAPI for Wi-Fi.
BoothX controls Canon EOS cameras using Canon's official SDK, already built into the app: there's no driver to install.
USB connection
- Use the USB cable supplied with the camera, plugged directly into the computer.
- Turn on the camera.
- Close EOS Utility and other Canon software: only one program at a time can control the camera.
- In BoothX, open the Cameras page: the camera appears under Detected cameras.
- Click Open a session, then start the preview to check the framing.
Power
An evening outlasts a battery. Run the camera on mains power with the Canon DC coupler and adapter that match its battery. The Cameras page shows the recommended power supply for recognized models.
Wi-Fi with CCAPI (optional)
Some recent cameras support the Camera Control API (CCAPI), which lets you control the camera over Wi-Fi. CCAPI must first be activated on the camera with the activation tool provided by Canon. Over Wi-Fi, the preview is less smooth than over USB: USB remains recommended for a booth.
Several cameras
If several cameras are connected, choose the photobooth one with Use, before opening the session.
