Launcher and modes
Multi-mode events and letting guests choose the mode
Offer photo, video and games in the same event, and let each guest choose their activity.
New platform being rolled out. Depending on your version of BoothX, turning on several modes per event may not be available yet.
A wedding can have both a photobooth and a video guestbook; a trade show, a photobooth and a wheel of fortune. Rather than launching two events, you turn on several modes in the same event and each guest chooses their activity.
Turn on several modes
- Open the event's details.
- In the modes section, check the modes to offer: Photobooth, Videobooth, Game booth.
- Choose the default mode, the one that opens if the guest doesn't choose anything.
An event always has at least one mode. By default, a new event only has the Photobooth: your existing events keep working exactly as before.
The event's modes are synced with the web panel: you can choose them from app.boothx.org while preparing the event.
What the guest sees
With a single mode, nothing changes: the guest touches the screen and starts right away.
With several modes, the welcome screen offers a mode choice: one large tile per activity (“Take a photo”, “Leave a video message”, “Try your luck”…). The guest taps the tile of their choice, does the activity, then the booth returns to the choice screen for the next guest.
Best practices for the choice screen:
- three modes at most: beyond that, guests hesitate and the line gets longer;
- short labels, in the imperative;
- a default mode that suits the event (the photobooth for a wedding, the game for a trade show).
Hardware and modes
Each mode in the event must have its hardware when the event is launched:
- the photobooth uses the camera chosen on the Cameras page;
- the videobooth uses a webcam (which can be the same as the photobooth's if you shoot with a webcam);
- the game booth only needs the touchscreen, plus a printer for prize vouchers.
If a mode doesn't have its required hardware, its tile is hidden from the choice screen rather than showing guests an error.
Statistics and gallery
Photos, video messages and games played are all attached to the same event:
- the Storage page filters them by type (photos, prints, videos…);
- the event statistics add up the modes and break them down mode by mode;
- the online gallery, if you turn it on, groups the event's photos (and videos, when their upload is turned on).
Music by mode
Each mode can have its own background music: a soft playlist for the video guestbook, something more upbeat for the game. While a video message is being recorded, the music stops automatically. See Background music by mode.
