Photo slots, formats and paper
Slots and layouts, photo style, template formats matched to the paper, screen widgets and the test page.
The Photobooth tool in the rail brings together everything specific to photos: the slots where the guests' photos go, their style, and the screen widgets.
The capture type
Each template has a Capture type (Photo, GIF, Boomerang, Video): “One type per template: every slot uses it.” The Photo type is the one used by the classic photobooth.
Slots
A slot is the area where a photo from the session is displayed. The number of slots determines the number of photos taken in each session.
- 4 slots maximum per template.
- Add a slot / Delete the slot.
- A template always keeps at least one slot.
- Slots can be moved and resized like other elements, but they can't be duplicated.
Layouts
Layouts: choose the number of photos, then a layout: One large, Side by side, Column, Row, Large on the left, Grid, Stacked… Each slot can still be moved freely afterward.
Photo style
Photo style applies to all slots (select a slot to adjust it on its own):
- Shape: rectangle, Round, Polaroid, Framed, Full bleed…;
- Filter: Natural, Black and white, Sepia, Warm, Cool, Vivid, Soft, Classic;
- Frame: White frame or Remove the frame, with its color and thickness;
- Fill (the photo covers the whole slot, even if it gets cropped) or Whole photo (the entire photo is visible).
Preview with photos fills the slots with Event photos or a Sample photo, so you can judge the final result.
The template format
With nothing selected, the properties bar shows the Template format. Available formats:
| Format | Use |
|---|---|
| 4×6 print · 2:3 and 6×4 print · 3:2 | The standard photo print, portrait or landscape. |
| 5×7 print · 5:7 | A larger print. |
| Photo strip · 1:3 | The 2 × 6" “photo booth” strip. |
| Portrait 3:4, Square 1:1, Landscape 4:3 | Online gallery, social media. |
| A4 · A5 · A6 portrait | Office printers. |
Matching the format to the paper
If a printer is selected (Printers page), the editor only offers the formats it can print: “Print paper · 4 × 6"”. If the template format doesn't match the paper: “This format does not match the print paper: the photo will be cropped when printed”.
For a format that requires a different paper, the editor says so (“With another paper of …”): change the paper on the Printers page.
Apply to all templates gives the same format to all of the event's templates.
The screen format
For screens, the Screen display format: Screen 16:9, Screen 16:10, Vertical 9:16… If the format doesn't match the connected screen, the editor warns that it will be displayed with bars, and offers Match this screen. Apply to all screens harmonizes the five screens.
Screen widgets
In Photobooth › Widgets, each screen has its own widgets:
- Capture: Camera live view (the live preview) and Countdown;
- Share: Sharing QR code and Layout preview;
- Welcome: Start button;
- Cancel button to let the guest go back.
The Countdown has its own settings: Style (Ring, Dots, Bar, Number), Animation on each second (Pulse…), Duration, Accent color, and Test the countdown.
A widget can only appear once per screen.
Template test page
The Print a test page of this template button (top bar) prints the template with sample photos on the active printer. With a virtual printer, the page is saved to the Desktop. Without a printer: “No printer selected: choose one in Printers.”
Always print a test page before the event: the printer's actual margins can clip text placed too close to the edge. Keep text and logos at least 5 mm from the edges.
