Printers
How BoothX recognizes your printer
Automatic detection, model recognition, formats and printer status.
Detection
BoothX checks the system's printer list every five seconds: a printer that is connected or disconnected appears on or disappears from the Printers page without restarting the app.
Model recognition
The name and model reported by the driver are compared with BoothX's list of known printers. For a recognized model, the page shows:
- the brand and model;
- the technology (dye sublimation, inkjet, laser);
- the compatibility level: recommended for photobooths, compatible or occasional use;
- the model's print formats, such as the 2 × 6" strip for models that cut strips.
A model that isn't on the list still works: BoothX then uses the formats reported by the driver.
Virtual printers
“Microsoft Print to PDF”, XPS, OneNote or fax printers are flagged as virtual printers: they don't produce any paper prints and aren't suitable for a booth.
Status
- Ready: the printer is waiting for a job.
- Printing: a print is in progress.
- Job cancelled: the last job was interrupted.
- Error: out of paper or ribbon, cover open, paper jam. Fix the problem on the printer, then print another test page.
Active printer
BoothX always prints to the active printer chosen in the app, regardless of the system's default printer.
