Display and input
App zoom, windowed or full screen, sidebar, virtual keyboard, mouse, touch and visual feedback for presses.
Display
Application zoom
Zoom enlarges or shrinks only the BoothX display, from 80 to 200%. The zoom of Windows and other apps doesn't change.
Ctrl++(orCtrl+=) zooms in,Ctrl+-zooms out,Ctrl+0returns to 100%.- Zoom can also be set right from the sign-in screen.
- It applies immediately to the whole app, without restarting.
A zoom of 125 or 150% makes the interface more comfortable for fingers on a large touch screen.
Display mode
- Windowed: a regular, resizable window;
- Maximized: the window fills the screen, taskbar visible;
- Full screen: BoothX takes up the entire screen (
F11to toggle).
Confirm on close asks for confirmation before quitting BoothX: this prevents closing the app by mistake during a job.
Sidebar
- Closed sidebar: Icons (reduced to icons) or Hidden (the page takes the full width);
- Open sidebar: In place (the page shifts over) or Over the page (as a drawer, closed after a choice).
Ctrl+B shows or hides the sidebar.
Input
The Input section detects your devices and adapts the interface.
Keyboard
- Physical keyboard: a keyboard is connected and BoothX uses it;
- Virtual keyboard: a touch keyboard appears on screen when a text field is selected;
- by default, the virtual keyboard appears if no keyboard is connected (“No physical keyboard detected”).
The virtual keyboard uses the theme's colors and also serves guests (leaderboard nickname, contest form).
Mouse, touchpad, touch screen
For each type of device, BoothX shows what it has detected (“Detected: …”) and lets you specify that a booth has no mouse, no touchpad or a non-touch screen. The interface adapts: for example, the cursor can be hidden on a touch-only booth.
Show presses
Visual feedback on each press reassures the user on a touch screen:
- Show presses: Off, Touch, or Touch and mouse;
- Press color: for each theme, its own color, or a gray of your choice;
- Bounce on press: the cursor's arrow and hand bounce slightly with each click.
Turn on Touch for a self-service booth: guests see that their press was registered and don't press three times.
Screens
Screen settings (roles, orientation, event screen, screen lock, separate or mirrored screens) are covered in Use several screens.
Title bar
Right-clicking the title bar opens Title bar display: choose to show the page title, the time, the battery (and its percentage), the metrics, sync, the lock and settings. The button at the top right can also be moved into the account menu.
