Live photo wall
The live photo wall
Show the evening's photos large on a second screen as sessions happen, with moderation: how it works, hardware and uses.
Mode being rolled out. The live photo wall is arriving gradually in BoothX releases. Depending on your version, the screens and settings may differ from this description, or the mode may appear as “Soon” in the launcher.
The live photo wall displays the evening's photos on a large screen (TV, venue screen, projector) as they're taken. Guests see their photo appear in large format a few moments after their session: it's a great showcase for the booth, and an activity in its own right.
The wall works locally: the booth sends the photos directly to the screen connected to it. It's free, needs no account and no internet connection.
How it works
- You connect a second screen to the booth computer.
- You launch the photo wall on that screen, at the same time as the photo booth (or another mode) on the guest screen.
- Each newly confirmed photo joins the wall, with an entrance animation.
- Between new arrivals, the wall cycles through the photos already taken.
- If you enable it, moderation lets you approve each photo before it's displayed.
What is displayed
| Content | Shown on the wall | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Photo booth photos and layouts | Yes | The heart of the wall. |
| GIFs and boomerangs | Depending on your version | Animated on screen. |
| Guestbook selfies | Depending on your settings | With or without the message. |
| Mosaic mural | Depending on your version | To follow its progress. |
| Video messages | Not by default | They're personal and have sound; it's better to play the video guestbook at the end of the evening. |
Hardware
- A second screen: TV, professional display or projector, connected via HDMI or DisplayPort to the booth computer.
- A long enough cable, or a screen placed near the booth. Poor-quality HDMI extension cables are the leading cause of dropouts.
- No network needed: the wall is displayed directly by the booth computer.
A third screen is possible if your computer supports it: guest screen, admin screen and wall. See Using multiple screens.
Where to place the wall
- Visible from afar: above the bar, near the dance floor, at the entrance.
- Not facing the booth: guests posing shouldn't be dazzled by the screen.
- At eye level or higher: above people's heads in a full room.
- Out of reach of drinks and dancers: secure the stand or mount firmly.
Uses
| Event | Why a wall helps |
|---|---|
| Wedding | Guests who don't go to the booth still enjoy the photos; the couple sees their party live. |
| Corporate party | A friendly atmosphere, with the company logo dressing the wall. |
| Trade show | The wall draws visitors to the stand. |
| Concert, festival | Audience photos projected large. |
Privacy and moderation
A photo shown on a large screen is seen by the whole room. To avoid unpleasant surprises:
- enable moderation for a professional event or an unknown audience (see Moderating the photo wall);
- let guests know on the welcome screen that photos may be shown on the wall;
- give everyone a way to ask for a photo to be removed (a host, an instruction).
See also Guests' rights.
Free and offline
The wall is displayed by the booth, without our servers: it uses no credits. Only the online services you enable separately (cloud gallery, email or SMS sharing) fall under pay-as-you-go services. See Free forever or pay-as-you-go.
