Create a quiz
Multiple-choice questions, correct answers, answer time, scoring and tips for a quiz that works.
Game being rolled out. Depending on your version of BoothX, the quiz editor may differ from this description.
The quiz gives the player a series of multiple-choice questions. At the end, they see their score and, if you wish, their place on the leaderboard or a prize.
Creating the questions
For each question:
- enter the question text (“What year was the company founded?”);
- add the answer choices (two to four);
- mark the correct answer;
- reorder the questions if needed.
The questions are saved on the booth with the event: you can prepare a different quiz for each event.
How a game unfolds
- The player taps Play on the welcome screen (after registering, if the quiz is combined with a contest).
- The questions appear one at a time, with the answers on large tiles.
- After each answer, the booth shows whether it was right before moving on to the next one.
- At the end, the results screen shows the score (for example “7 / 10”) and, depending on your settings, the player's place on the leaderboard or the prize screen.
Scoring
Each correct answer earns points. If the quiz is timed, answering quickly can break a tie between two players with the same number of correct answers: that's what keeps the leaderboard lively at a trade show.
How many questions?
| Context | Recommended number | Length of a game |
|---|---|---|
| Very busy stand | 3 to 5 | under a minute |
| Evening party, wedding | 8 to 10 | 2 to 3 minutes |
| Dedicated activity | 10 to 15 | 3 to 5 minutes |
Beyond that, players lose interest and the line gets longer.
Writing good questions
- One idea per question, worded simply, readable in a few seconds.
- Answers of the same length: the correct answer shouldn't be guessable from its form.
- A bit of humor: one far-fetched answer per question lightens the mood.
- Useful content: at a trade show, each correct answer is a message from your client (“Our product saves 30% energy”).
- Read it aloud and have it tested by someone who doesn't know the subject.
Rewarding players
Three options, which can be combined:
- the leaderboard: the day's best players are displayed, with a nickname;
- a prize at a threshold: for example a goodie from 8 correct answers, with a printable prize screen;
- a prize draw among the participants registered for the contest.
See Leaderboard and printable prize screen.
Statistics
For each event, the booth counts the games played and the average score. It's a good indicator for your client report: number of engaged visitors, most-missed questions (and therefore messages to rework).
