Game booth
Organizer's guide: the Games page step by step
The Quiz, Wheel, Contest, Scores and Contacts tabs, the demo content, automatic saving and how it works for guests.
Mode being rolled out. The game booth is gradually arriving in BoothX releases. Depending on your version, some tabs or settings may differ.
This guide gives a complete tour of the Games page, the organizer's workspace for the game booth. To discover the games themselves, start with The game booth: quiz, wheel and contest.
Before you start
- Choose the event in the list at the top of the page. It follows the event selected in the rest of the app: questions, prizes and entries belong to that event.
- Nothing to save: every change is saved automatically, a fraction of a second after you stop typing.
- A new event is playable right away: it contains a demo quiz with a few questions, a wheel with six prizes including a “No luck” slot, and a disabled contest whose consent and rules texts are already filled in. Replace this content with your own.
The tabs
| Tab | What it's for |
|---|---|
| Quiz | Turn on the quiz, its title, the speed bonus, shuffled order; create and order the questions. |
| Wheel | The prizes: name, color, weight, stock, winning or not; the live preview of the wheel. |
| Contest | Turn on the contest, choose the requested fields, write the consent text and short rules. |
| Scores | The numbers: quiz games, wheel spins, prizes won, entries, quiz top 10. |
| Contacts | Contest entries: list, CSV export, deletion, purge. |
Quiz tab
- Turn on the quiz and give it a title.
- Add questions: 2 to 6 answers each, with an optional image.
- Tap the dot of the correct answer.
- Set the time and points for each question.
- If needed, turn on the speed bonus: an immediate answer earns up to half the points extra.
- Turn on shuffled order so that two players in a row don't get the same series.
Details and writing tips: Create a quiz.
Wheel tab
- Each prize has a color (chosen from the theme palette), a name, a weight (its relative chances), a stock (“Unlimited” or a number) and a winning checkbox.
- Segments can be equal or proportional to the weight.
- The live preview shows the wheel and the probability of each prize as a percentage. Its Spin button draws nothing and doesn't deduct any stock: test as much as you like.
The draw is fair: the prize is drawn at random according to the weights before the animation, and the stock is deducted immediately. An out-of-stock prize stays visible but is no longer drawn; when no prize is left, the Launch button is disabled. See The wheel of fortune.
Contest tab
- Turn on the contest.
- Check the requested fields (first name, last name, email, phone…): each checked field becomes required. Only ask for what you need.
- Write the consent text and the short rules displayed on the booth.
- The newsletter checkbox is separate, optional and unchecked by default.
See Contest: GDPR consent, CSV export and purge.
Scores tab
During and after the activity: number of quiz games, wheel spins, prizes won, entries, breakdown of prizes drawn and the quiz top 10. Reset asks for confirmation before erasing anything: do it after your tests, before opening. See Leaderboard and printable prize screen.
Contacts tab
The list of entries, with CSV export (spreadsheet-compatible, semicolon separator), deleting a contact and purging all the event's contacts, each one confirmed. Contacts never leave the booth: they are neither synced nor sent online.
For guests
- Launch the event with the Game booth mode (on its own or among other modes: see Multi-mode event).
- The guest sees an animated welcome screen, chooses a game if there are several, plays, then discovers the prize screen (printable) or the leaderboard.
- After one minute without any action, the booth returns to the welcome screen.
- To exit, use the usual exit gesture or zone, then the unlock code.
The day before: checklist
- Demo content replaced with your own.
- Prize stock matches what you actually have.
- Rules and consent text proofread.
- About ten test games, then a reset of the scores.
- Printer ready for prize tickets.
- Booth locked (see Locking with a PIN or pattern).
Frequently asked questions
Do the games cost anything? No. Everything runs on the booth, without internet, for free.
Can I copy a quiz from one event to another? Duplicating an event copies its design (see Manage your events); depending on your version, the questions and prizes may not follow. Check the copy's Quiz tab before the activity.
Does the background music follow the game? You can assign background music to the mode. See Background music by mode.
